Basic Training

The STCW 2010 Basic Training course is a mandatory safety training program required for all seafarers working on board vessels, regardless of rank or position. This course ensures that trainees are equipped with essential knowledge and skills to respond effectively in emergency situations at sea, in accordance with the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW), as amended in 2010. It is the entry-level course for anyone starting a maritime career and is compulsory for first-time seafarers before joining a vessel.

Advanced Fire Fighting

The STCW Advanced Fire Fighting course is designed for seafarers who will be assigned to control fire-fighting operations on board ships. This course provides participants with advanced knowledge of fire prevention, organization of fire-fighting teams, inspection and maintenance of fire-fighting equipment, and command during fire emergencies. It meets the standards set by Regulation VI/3 and Section A-VI/3 of the STCW Code, as amended.

Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats

The Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats course is intended for seafarers who are assigned to crew, launch, and take charge of survival craft or rescue boats during emergencies. This training ensures that participants are capable of handling life-saving appliances safely and effectively, in accordance with Regulation VI/2, Section A-VI/2-1 of the STCW Code. This is an essential requirement for officers and crew who have duties involving lifeboats, rescue boats, and other survival equipment

Ship Security Awareness

The Ship Security Awareness course is designed for all seafarers who do not have designated security duties but must understand security threats and know how to respond appropriately. This course meets the requirements of Regulation VI/6 and Section A-VI/6-1 of the STCW Code, as amended. It provides basic knowledge on how to recognize, report, and respond to potential maritime security threats.

Proficiency in Designated Security Duties

The Designated Security Duties (DSD) course is intended for seafarers who have specific security-related responsibilities on board ships. This training complies with STCW Regulation VI/6, Section A-VI/6-2, and prepares crew members to carry out designated security functions under the Ship Security Plan (SSP). This course is essential for those who are assigned tasks such as controlling access to the ship, monitoring restricted areas, or assisting the Ship Security Officer (SSO) during security incidents.

Medical First Aid

The STCW Medical First Aid course is designed for seafarers who are assigned to provide medical first aid on board ship. This course meets the requirements of STCW Regulation VI/4 and Section A-VI/4-1 and equips participants with the knowledge and practical skills needed to respond to medical emergencies at sea when professional medical assistance is not immediately available. It goes beyond basic first aid and is a required qualification for officers and designated crew members responsible for onboard medical care.

Radar Navigation, Radar Plotting, and Use of ARPA

This course provides seafarers with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills to safely and effectively use radar and ARPA (Automatic Radar Plotting Aids) for navigation and collision avoidance. Aligned with STCW Code Table A-II/1, it is a mandatory course for watchkeeping officers (WKO) and those pursuing a Certificate of Competency (CoC). Participants will gain competence in interpreting radar displays, performing radar plotting, and making navigational decisions in compliance with the COLREGS (International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea)

Electronic Navigation Aids

This course provides seafarers with the knowledge and practical skills to operate and interpret a range of electronic navigation systems used on modern ships. Emphasis is placed on safe navigation, position fixing, route planning, and watchkeeping duties, using internationally recognized electronic aids. It supports the competencies outlined in STCW Table A-II/1 and A-II/3, especially for Watchkeeping Officers (WKO) and near coastal navigation certification.

GMDSS General Operator’s Certificate

This course trains seafarers in the use of the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS), preparing them to operate shipboard radio communication systems during both routine operations and distress situations. It complies fully with STCW Regulation IV/2 and Section A-IV/2, leading to the issuance of a GMDSS General Operator’s Certificate (GOC). The GMDSS course is mandatory for deck officers and radio operators serving on SOLAS-compliant vessels equipped with GMDSS radio installations.

Restricted Operator’s Certificate

The Restricted Operator’s Certificate (ROC) course is designed for seafarers who operate VHF radio equipment on ships engaged in near coastal voyages. It is a fundamental STCW-approved training under Regulation IV/2 and Section A-IV/2 of the STCW Code, focused on short-range communication using Digital Selective Calling (DSC). This course is mandatory for Watchkeeping Officers (Near Coastal) and personnel assigned to VHF communication duties under the GMDSS system in Sea Area A1.

Leadership and Managerial Skills

The Leadership and Managerial Skills course equips seafarers with essential competencies in leadership, decision-making, team management, and effective communication as required by the STCW 2010 Code (Section A-III/1, A-III/2, A-II/1, and A-II/2). This training is mandatory for officers at both operational and management levels to ensure the safe and efficient operation of ships, improve crew performance, and promote a positive safety culture onboard.

Ship Security Officer

The Ship Security Officer (SSO) course is designed to provide the knowledge and skills required for seafarers who will be assigned duties and responsibilities for the security of the ship, its crew, and cargo, in accordance with the ISPS Code and STCW 2010 Regulation VI/5 and Section A-VI/5. This course prepares participants to assess security risks, implement security plans, and lead the ship's security team, ensuring compliance with international maritime security standards.

Refresher Courses

Our STCW Refresher Courses are designed for seafarers whose mandatory safety certificates have expired or are nearing expiry. In accordance with STCW 2010 amendments (Manila Amendments), seafarers must undergo refresher training every 5 years to maintain their competencies and continue sailing legally. These courses ensure that mariners remain updated with current practices, respond effectively to emergencies, and meet Marine Department Malaysia and IMO requirements.

Certificate of Competency (CoC) – Near Coastal

Our Near Coastal CoC Program prepares seafarers for certification as Watchkeeping Officers (WKO Near Coastal). This program is ideal for those looking to build a career on Malaysian near coastal waters, operating domestic or regional vessels. The program follows the Marine Department of Malaysia’s guidelines and covers academic knowledge, simulator training, and preparatory modules for oral and written exams.
